Three killed in A41 smash

THREE people died and three more were injured in a collision on the A41 near Bicester yesterday evening.

At around 6.40pm, a silver Toyota Corolla heading towards Bicester and a red Hyundai Coupe travelling in the opposite direction collided at the turning for Ludgershall and Brill.

The driver and front passenger of the Toyota, a 79-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman from Brackley, and the driver of the Hyundai, a 28-year-old man from Chipping Norton, were declared dead at the scene.

A woman travelling in the Hyundai was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with serious injuries, and two children from the same car, a boy and a girl, were taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury with minor injuries.

The road was closed until around 11.30pm while investigators examined the scene.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to contact PC Darren Carnell at Aylesbury Roads Policing on 08458 505505.
