THE Great Horwood Road at Winslow was closed for four hours on Wednesday night following a serious car crash.

Two cars ended up in the ditch after a head-on collision at about 6pm.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene in which three women were injured.

A fire crew from Winslow and two crews from Buckingham attended, plus two urban search and rescue vehicles and crews from Aylesbury, along with group manager Roger Brinklow and station manager Will Rootes.

Firefighters released two injured women. A third injured woman had already been released.

South Central Ambulance Service sent an officer, a supervisor, a basics doctor, three double-manned ambulances and the police helicopter.

One of the women who had been trapped was described as ‘poorly’ after sustaining a fractured leg and fractured ribs. She was taken by land ambulance to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The other two women were taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital.
