SOME of Oxford’s finest folk musicians will play at the AGM of Bicester Local History Society on Monday.

Freelance writer, music producer and broadcaster Tim Healey, of BBC Radio 4’s At Home with Healey, will give a talk on the mythical Green Man.

The Green Man is a common decorative architectural feature in churches and other buildings.

Mr Healey said: “The Green Man is an age-old presence in architecture and crafts – a mysterious leafy mask often with plants streaming from the mouth, eyes or nostrils.

“He turns up in some of the earliest parish churches and the cloisters of Gothic cathedrals; in 18th-century keystones and Victorian door surrounds.”

The talk will include a visual presentation, and musical interludes by folk musicians Hilary James and Simon Mayor. The meeting starts at 7.30pm in St Edburg’s Church Hall in Old Place Yard, Bicester.
