Emergency services are on the scene of a fatal collision on the M40 and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Police were called at 11.20am this morning, Friday, to reports of a collision on the southbound carriageway of the M40, just before Junction 9 between a car and an arctic lorry.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene and one other occupant of the vehicle has been airlifted to hospital.
The southbound carriageway has been closed for the past few hours, although two lanes have now reopened. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The M40 southbound entry sliproad at Cherwell Valley Services is also closed. There are currently tailbacks along the M40 and into Bicester.
The Highways Agency says roads are expected to reopen at around 5.45pm.
