As in previous years the A43 will between Towcester and Brackley will be closed to through traffic.

Non race traffic has been advised to avoid the area completely and local residents are being given details on road closures and diversions, including the impact on school and bus services.

Highways Agency spokesman Graham Littlechild said: “We have a tried and tested traffic management system in place that has served us well in previous years and ensured that delays are kept to a minimum.”

Mr Littelchild advised motorist to plan their journeys and to build in extra travel time.

As well as local radio, passengers and resting drivers with iphones can now receive up-to-the-minute information on delays and diversions via twitter @HAtraffic_emids.
