AROUND 70 people gathered a St Mary’s Church in Turweston last weekend to hear speaker John Bercow urge them to take part in consultations over the HS2 proposals.

Parish councillor Hazel Morrison said Mr Bercow told the audience there are compelling arguments against HS2 and that he was totally opposed to it. He also recognised calls by south Northants MP Andrea Leadsom and others for a full commons debate on HS2.

Mrs Morrison said: “After a lively question time, Mr Bercow urged those present to not to concede the inevitability of HS2 and continue to oppose it with energy and determination.”
