HIGHWAYS officials are promising minimal disruption while work to resurface Towcester high street is carried out.
On Tuesday six nights of survey work began ahead of the resurfacing, which is provisionally booked for this financial year.
The work will be carried out in small sections along a 1.4 mile stretch of the A5 Watling Street from Park Street to Heathencote. Temporary traffic lights are being used to control lane closures while the survey is completed.
Mark Braithwaite, project sponsor for the Highways Agency said: “This is important preparatory work in advance of some resurfacing that will improve the road surface, We aim to carry out these works with minimal disruption.”
John Godwin of Towcester Town Council welcomed the resurfacing work but added: “Like an operation we are going to have to put up with some pain in order to benefit from a new road surfaces.”
