STEWKLEY Local History Group will launch its latest publication The Stewkley Lads Fallen in the Second World War on Sunday, November 6.

Written by John Sheldon, the new booklet tells the story of men from the village who died in the Second World War and whose names are recorded on the village war memorial.

A launch party in the village hall will include a presentation by ‘Stewkley lad’ Lieutenant Colonel Simon Wilkinson TD DL, entitled The Call-Up, Then and Now.

The family tea party starts at 4pm, with 1940s music, wartime posters and decorations. Tickets are free, but should be pre-booked. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in 1940s period costume or uniform.

Copies of The Stewkley Lads Fallen in the Second World War will be on sale for £4, and there will be a raffle and collection for The Royal British Legion.
