YARDLEY Gobion will be leading the way for the Prime Minister David Cameron after being selected to take part in a Big Society pilot scheme.

The south Northants village has been selected by the Government to be one of the first communities to become part of the Neighbourhood Planning Front Runner Pilot Scheme. Launched as part of the 2010 Conservative general election manifesto, the Big Society legislation aims to give local communities more power and the pilot scheme saw the parish council and South Northants Council awarded £20,000 to allow them to work together to produce a neighbourhood plan which will shape planning decisions and infrastructure improvement.

John Parker of Yardley Gobion parish said: “We decided in July 2010, before the Localism bill, that it was important that the community has a bigger voice in any future development in the parish.”
