Visitors were asked to vote for their favourite scarecrow with the winner, a pumpkin man made out of vegetables, made by Mick and Christine Hutton. In second place was a climber by Mark Payne and in third Ab Fab, by Cynthia and Arthur Bryant.

Organiser, Louisa Richardson, also brought out her scarecrows, Lilo Lil and Fred whose story villagers have been following for the past three years.

She said: “In the first year, we had a courting couple on a bench, then last year they got married. This year, Lilo is pregnant. Next year, there might be a pram!”

There was also a competition for children to find all the tractors in the village, which was won by George King, who found 26 out of 30. On Sunday, the village held a produce show followed by a sale of vegetables to raise money for the Buckingham Hospital League of Friends and village Christmas lights.
