Three friends from King’s Sutton are taking a hike with a difference.

Gary Armstrong, Nick Reed and Keith Bossom describe themselves as ‘three fat 50-year-olds’ who are attempting to walk 100 miles in a day in the London 2 Brighton Challenge.

The test of endurance takes place from May 25-26 with the trio raising money for Action on Hearing Loss.

Mr Armstrong said: “There are two reasons we want to raise money for this charity.

“My mother and Nick’s wife suffer from Meniere’s Disease, which causes chronic hearing loss and can affect anyone of any age, and we felt Action on Hearing Loss was the best charity for our donations as it does a lot to raise awareness of hearing difficulty.”

He added: “We’re all of a similar age and the walk will be a good weight loss thing.”

“The walk is 100 miles all in one hit and they like you to do it in 30 hours. We’re aiming to do it in 20-24 hours. “
