Thirteen people enjoyed splendid weather for a guided Sunday Heritage Walk along the Grand Union Canal, led by Buckingham Canal Society trustee Athina Beckett.

Just half a mile from their starting point at Cosgrove Lock, the walkers encountered a working party of canal society volunteers, and were able to learn about the society’s work re-watering a section of the canal at Cosgrove.

The five-mile walk took in the Buckingham Arm of the canal up to the A5, before diverting to Stony Stratford Nature Reserve. Continuing back along the Ouse Valley Way towards the Grand Union Canal, Mrs Beckett led the walkers through the horse tunnel beneath the canal and up to the Iron Trunk Aqueduct which carries it across the Great Ouse, returning along the towpath back to Cosgrove Lock.
