A roadside cafe in south Northants has been given a certificate of excellence by tripadvisor after being ranked the most popular restaurant in county.
The Super Sausage, on the A5 at Potterspury, is currently ranked the best restaurant in Northamptonshire out of 613.
Tripadvisor, has given the cafe a 2013 Certificate of Excellence, awarded to the top 10 per cent of all the businesses on the travel advice website
Chris Murray, who has run the cafe along with wife Gail for the last four years, describes it as “a greasy spoon without the grease”.
He has been in the catering business for many years and once sold a kitchen to top chef, Michel Roux, in a previous job.
Mr Murray said: “It was a bolt out of the blue. It is fantastic. We serve good honest food at a reasonable price and source it locally where we can.
“It is all down to having a good team around us. We have a great team, right from the porter to the chefs. They all work together and are very professional.”
Martin Downes, aged 41, of Potterspury, often visits with his wife and two children.
He said: “The ingredients are cooked well and the chef knows what he is doing. They treat the customers very well, that’s for sure. It is very child-friendly as well.
“We eat out as a family three or four times a week, and if this was open at night we’d come here, because we’ve not found anywhere else that’s up to scratch. If we’re eating out at the weekend, there’s no contest.”
