NORTHERN Ballet tread lightly this week when they return to MK Theatre, this time with a new production of Beauty & the Beast.
A handsome Prince is transformed into a Beast as a punishment for his ugly arrogance.
The only way the spell can be broken is by true love.
But surely such a monster is unloveable?
When a beautiful young woman is sent to live with the beast, her initial fear subsides when she realises that he yearns only for a love she cannot return.Haute couture-style costumes and simply sensational dancing will entrance, against a musical score by Bizet, Debussy, Poulenc and Faure, delivered live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
A sublime company that oozes class and excellence, they are a dream to see, but don’t wait long – Beauty and the Beast is only in the new city for five nights from Tuesday.
Tickets have a starting price of £13 rising to £35. Call with bookings on 0844 871 7652.
>TICKETS for the hottest show of the year, Phantom of the Opera, are doing a brisk business at the MKT box office, as you would expect.
The theatre classic makes its first visit to us in late October for a month long stay.
But Phantom isn’t the only high profile delivery en route.
Before that, MKT has productions including Sister Act and Steel Magnolias, and starting on May 1st, the long-awaited, much anticipated Dirty Dancing.
