The remains of a 2,000-year-old Roman burial casket discovered near Whitchurch have gone on display at the Bucks County Museum, in Aylesbury, after being found by a metal detectorist.

The discovery included the remains of a 2nd century cremation casket, bronze and glass ornaments, pottery and food and drink offerings.

The burial was found during an event run by Weekend Wanderers detecting group, in October.

The finds have been cleaned and analysed by specialists and the landowners and finder donated the finds to the museum, which will fundraise to gather the £3,000 needed to get all the finds, especially a fragile bronze flagon, properly conserved.
