Winslow news: Townspeople saw red over inn’s paint job

KEEN-EYED passers-by may have wondered whether The George Inn in Winslow was having an identity crisis, as the building changed its colour scheme twice during the past week.

Refurbishment work has recently been being carried out on the historic pub – which is currently tenantless – on the corner of the Market Square, on behalf of owners Marston’s.

And last week, town councillors noted that the lower half of the building had been painted burgundy.

Although the building is listed and in a Conservation Area, planning permission had not been obtained in advance for the change of colour, and Winslow Town Council was swift to inform planning enforcement officers at Aylesbury Vale District Council.
