Woman airlifted after M40 accident

A MAN and a woman were taken to hospital after a car left the M40 and fell down an embankment near Ardley yesterday afternoon.

The accident, between Junction 11 and Junction 10, was reported just after 4.20pm.

Two crews from Banbury Fire Station and a rescue vehicle from Kidlington were called out to free the occupants of the car, which had come to rest five metres down the embankment.

The woman was airlifted, and the man was taken to hospital by ambulance. Thames Valley Police was also called to the scene.
