TOWCESTER: A group of supermarket workers have been raising money for charity after two of their colleagues died this year.

In July staff from Waitrose in Richmond Road raised £360 for the Willen Hospice in the name or 71-year-old check out girl Vorden Brennan during the 10 mile Midnight Moo sponsored walk in Milton Keynes.

On Sunday, October 2, Waitrose partners will take part in Run’11, the biggest sponsored run in Northants raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support in the name of colleague Phil Lamdin who also died this year.

Melanie Brentnall said: “We are very close in the store and help each other out. Most of us here had worked with Phil, a lot of us were here with him before it became Waitrose and I was one of those.

“It was a big hit, many of us had never lost a work colleague before so to lose two in a year was tough. We just needed something where we could all pull together to keep our morale up.”

The run takes place on Sunday, October 2, ask in the store about how to support the Waitrose runners.
