A 13-year-old pupil at the Cooper School in Bicester is on the path to literary success after writing and publishing his first book of poetry.
Darius Smith, of Dickens Close, has published his first collection of poetry under the pen name Victory for U. The young author has been writing poetry since the age of five.
The volume, entitled Belief, is set to be the first in an eight-part series of poetry books.
Darius’s father is DJ Gary Smith, who had a regular slot on BBC Oxford as DJG, and now works at the new OX105 FM station. Darius’s mother, Yvonne Smith, is head of hairdressing at Oxford and Cherwell Valley College.
Mr Smith said: “He has always shown signs of creativity from an early age and he has our full support in his endeavours.”
Darius also runs an online blog full of inspirational messages for young people. One recent post said: “If you have small expectation that’s how you’ll be, if you dream big, dream bolder, dream unique, this will hopefully make anything you want happen!”
Copies of the book are available from the website http://victoryforu.wordpress.com, priced at £5.
