THESE green-fingered youngsters grew more than ‘twygs’ when they took part in a gardening competition.

Twyford Garden Society – TWYGS – presented awards to children from Twyford School last Friday, including the main prize of the Roger Harlock Young Gardeners Award; named after a former member.

The theme this year was ‘Grow your own Salad’ and the Nursery class grew cress in egg shells, while the rest of the children grew radishes, spring onions and lettuce.

About 45 children entered and the overall winner was Will Green, while Grace Handford took first prize in the Nursery Class, Joshua Hubbard in Year 1 and 2, and Nathan Cronin in Year 3 and 4.
