A MAGNIFICENT 175 from Ayaz Mohammed stunned Little Horwood as they fell to a one-wicket defeat to Caddington in Division Six of the Four Counties Cricket League.
Batting first, Michael Lilley ripped through Horwood’s top order to leave them at 10-3.
But Jim Williams (76) and Brijesh Valhambhia (78) came together and put on an important 140 partnership to put Horwood in control.
Late wickets stunted the home side’s progress but they still managed a competitive 199 all out.
Little Horwood then appeared to be heading to a comfortable victory when Caddington found themselves 30-4 in reply as Ben Gold (4-21) did the damage.
But Mohammed had other ideas as he produced on of the most incredible batting performances ever seen at Little Horwood.
He hit 20 sixes in a superb 175 to bring Caddington to within touching distance of victory before he was finally removed by Damon Bishton.
Horwood looked like they would sneak victory but Robert Cooper (2 not out) and Michael Lilley (4 not out) squeezed home to end a thrilling cricket match.
