Brackley 1st XI recorded back-to-back wins in Cherwell Cricket League Division Six after an eight-wicket victory over Oxford & Bletchingdon IIs.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, fast bowlers Sam Field (3-27) and Olly Goddard (1-25) quickly settled into a rhythm to pick up three wickets in the first 10 overs for just 17 runs.

Only A Samullah (41) offered resistance to the Brackley bowling attack as Saajan Patel (3-22) and Rob Cartwright (1-27) continued the good work throughout the innings, which was backed up by a fine fielding display that helped restrict Bletchingdon to 133 all out.

Eric Carpenter (58) and Dave Hedger (34) made a flying start in reply for Brackley as they dominated from the first over.

Two wickets fell but Cartwright and Mikey Lowe finished off a superb team display to put Brackley second in the table ahead of leaders Didcot, who they face in a top-of-the-table clash this weekend.

Brackley IIs also recorded their second win of the season, beating Bledlow Village IIIs by 38 runs.

Paul Ryan (46) top scored in Brackley’s total of 133-5 before a brilliant spell of bowling from seam bowler Ian Harris (7-26) blew the Bledlow batting away as they were bowled out for 95.
