The summer break for the F1 teams is coming to an end with action resuming in the FIA F1 World Championship next weekend, writes James Beckett.
Teams have been off-track for several weeks, but racing begins again next weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix taking place at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit set deep in the heart of the Ardennes.
Of the local Advertiser & Review region-based teams, Brackley’s Mercedes AMG Petronas are keen to show improvement in their form which on the whole this season has been disappointing.
Victory for Nico Rosberg in China back in the spring has been the highpoint for the squad in a season that has failed to deliver the expected results from the majority of the events for them.
Rosberg and his seven-time world championship winning team-mate, Michael Schumacher, are keen to see improvements from the team as the season enters its second half.
Schumacher said: “This season has been difficult in many ways for the team.
“We all firmly believe we can begin to score strong points in future races and put ourselves back in a position to challenge for podium finishes.”
