Finmere’s Phillip Barak is aiming for motorsport success once again this year when he takes part in the 2014 Clubmans Register Championship.
This will be Barak’s 58th year in motorsport after competing in the same event last season when his campaign was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances.
The 79-year-old said: “When I started racing in F3, I was the youngest driver, now I’m the oldest! It’s an addiction and gives me a lot of pleasure.”
The Clubmans Register Championship features old-fashioned, traditional motorsport races, with no use of computers or any modern technology, and starts in April with races at famous circuits around the country such as Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Barak added: “There’s not enough bums on seats at this championship and people are missing out on a lot of really good racing, without the electrical aspect of it. It’s old-fashioned racing with similar cars, but there are different types of engines, which always keeps the racing close.”
