BICESTER Athletic Club’s Sportshall teams took part in an exciting second match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League season with 34 Bicester athletes competing at the Kidlington Sports Centre.

The U11 boys team were in top form as they won every event to take a maximum score and extend their league in the overall competition.

William Sims, Joe Liddicot, JJ Welham, and Cameron Stock got their match off to flying start with a superb first place in the obstacle relay while Liddicot, Tom Couzens, Ellis Griffiths-Brown, and Archie Scott won in the speed bounce.

In the soft javelin, Josiah Edwards-Giraud threw 21.65m to set a new league record and Cameron Scarlett led the 4x1 lap relay teams to first.

The U11 girls also performed well – dropping just two points. In their opening event, Paige Scarlett, Lauren Garside, Millie Couzens, and Holly Griffiths-Brown eased to first place in the obstacle relay.

In the speed bounce Scarlett, Molly Acton, Amy Gould, and Holly Hunter came first before Griffiths-Brown and Isabelle Kinsella-Miles won the standing long jump. Emilia Sims also stood out to help the girls increase their lead.

As for the U13 girls, Elen Holt, Cerys Cherry, Erin Higginbottom, and Orlaith Lyford starred with a superb second before Alice Daniels, Olivia Stock, Cherry and Lyford added further second places to help the girls finish second overall.

The boys found it tough with only three athletes available but they performed well with Harvey Attrill, Fergus Jones and Caelan Coney coming second in various events.

Finally, the U15 competition proved to be close as the boys team of Tom Gould, Alex Jack, Zak and Connor Wilce competed well to finish the match in third, which is enough to keep them first overall.

Jess Cherry took first places in the shot putt, and the standing triple jump with Lauren Page jumping to second place in the standing triple jump for the girls while Frances Goss came first in the standing long jump.

The girls took first place and are second overall.
