BUCKINGHAM-BASED Team Racelogic scored victory at Brands Hatch last weekend when they claimed the top spot in a round of the BRSCC-organised VW FunCup.

Based on the Swan Business Park, Team Racelogic consisting of Julian Thomas, Nigel Greensall and Joachim Ritter lined-up for two endurance events at Brands with their JPR Motorsport-prepared car.

The FunCup is contested by spaceframe VW Beetle race cars powered by either 170 bhp diesel-powered engines or a 130 bhp petrol-powered unit.

Up until Brands Hatch, a diesel car had triumphed in every event this season but this was to change around the Kent track’s Indy Circuit when Team Racelogic scored a memorable win.

Problems prior to the opening race of the weekend forced Team Racelogic to start from the pit lane.

With Julian Thomas at the wheel the car joined in at the back of the pack, but a strong 20-minute stint saw the car climb up to fifth position when former Ginetta racer Joachim Ritter took over at the wheel.

He moved the car into fourth before handing over to Nigel Greensall who charged to the head of the pack before the fall of the chequered flag.

In the four-Hour endurance race that took place later in the day, Team Racelogic finished second overall and are now leading the championship overall.

Thomas said: “It was great to stand on the top step of the podium at Brands Hatch.

“We enjoyed a really good weekend and we are all looking forward to our next event.” JB
