FOOTBALL: Buckingham Town face a busy festive schedule of three games inside a week after trouncing Bourne Town 5-1 last Saturday in the UCL Division One.
New signing Rob Bannister grabbed a brace and there were also goals from Ben Shepherd, Nick Bines and a penalty for Chris Robson.
Bannister opened the scoring after seven minutes with a brilliant left foot volley from a Nick Bines cross.
The second came after 26 minutes when Bines cut in from the left and shot low into the bottom corner. Ben Shepherd scored a 25-yard cracker after 28 minutes for the second home game running to make it 3-0 at the break.
The second half saw Bourne trying to get back into the game, but it was Bannister who grabbed the fourth on 53 minutes after Shepherd’s low cross.
Bourne got one back on 58 minutes after a superb move down the right and clinical finishing.
Buckingham hit back with James Wardell being brought down in the box by the Bourne keeper, who was given a red card.Wardell unselfishly offered the ball to Chris Robson who put away the penalty comfortably to make it 5-1.

Kit Bamber’s side, just below mid-table in the league standings, next host second-placed Bugbrooke St Michaels on Boxing Day at the Winslow Centre, 1pm start. On Saturday December 31 they entertain Wootton Blue Cross, kick-off 2pm and on Monday January 2 travel to Olney Town, kick-off 3pm.
