WINSLOW Town extended their winning run to five games to move up to second in Division Three after a 69-run victory over Hailey.

On a damp, sticky wicket, Winslow were put into bat and made a solid start before Peter Hornby was forced to retire hurt.

The incident allowed Hailey to get amongst the Town batting line-up as the visitors slumped to 72-4.

But Callum Price arrived to the crease and played a crucial innings.

After a watchful start, Price dispatched the bowling to all areas of the ground to rack up a much-needed 69.

Winslow skipper Glyn Davies (49 not out) took over from where Price left off before Hornby returned when nine wickets had fallen and struck 24.

The wicket began to dry out and it appeared to make batting easier as Hailey’s openers began in a positive manner as they attacked the Town bowlers.

But once the breakthrough was made Winslow took charge and the wickets tumbled.

Five of the Hailey batsman recorded ducks as Mike Edworthy (4-28) and Fenton Price (4-16) bowled impressively.

Some terrific fielding also restricted the total, highlighted by a fantastic run out by James Gaskins. Despite some late runs, Hailey were bowled out for 111 as Jamie Litherland was the other wicket-taker.

Winslow now face a home match with Radley on Saturday.
