Anthony Davidson and the Toyota Gazoo Racing team began their challenge for victory in this year’s Le Mans 24-Hour Raceby taking part in the event’s Pre-Test on Sunday.

All 60 cars that will line-up for the 84th-running of the famous endurance race took part in the eight-hour test.

Davidson, from Brackley, was in action behind the wheel of the number 5 Toyota TS050-Hybrid, a car that set the fifth fastest time of the test at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.

The time Davidson’s car clocked was 1.822 seconds slower than the pace-setting number 8 Audi R18, and he said: “It’s nice to be back here at Le Mans and to be driving the TS050 Hybrid.

We can feel it is a big step forward on last year’s car. It feels like it has better balance and the hybrid boost is great around this track.

I am really pleased with the amount we were able to cram into the the one day of testing.”

Davidson and his Toyota team-mates, Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima, will be back in action on the Le Mans track next Wednesday, when the official free practice and qualifying sessions start.
