All of the Advertiser & Review region based F1 teams found the going tough during round 15 of the FIA F1 World Championship at Suzuka in Japan last weekend. On a day that Sebastian Vettel took another huge step towards claiming the 2013 Drivers’ title,

Lewis Hamilton found himself an early retirement after his Brackley-based Mercedes suffered damage to its floor following an opening lap puncture.

It was Hamilton’s first non-finish since the Spanish Grand Prix back in May. His team-mate, Nico Rosberg, finished eighth in his Mercedes. Paul di Resta (pictured) led the rest of the region’s racers crossing the finishline in 11th for the Sahara Force India team.

He was followed by the Bicester-based Toro Rosso cars of Jean-Eric Vergne and Daniel Ricciardo in 12th and 13th, with Adrian Sutil in the second Force India one place further back. Vettel now holds a 90-point lead at the head of the standings for the Red Bull team from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso and looks set to wrap his fourth championship title.
