Dog track plan at Towcester Racecourse
Towcester Racecourse is drawing up plans to build a greyhound track at the Northants venue.
General manager Kevin Ackerman confirmed the course is putting together a planning application with South Northants Council for submission over the next few months and has received a building quote.
He believes there is a market for dog racing in Towcester and Northants as a whole, which lacks a greyhound track.
A track would enhance the local entertainment scene, which he says is lacking, particularly at weekends.
The ambitious plan would make Towcester the “Ascot of the greyhound world.”
Mr Ackerman said: “I think there is definitely a market for dog racing here. The aim would be to offer something very special to the people of Northants.”
