Ell half-century sees Thornborough home

Brackley, Syresham and Thornborough all remain unbeaten im the Buckingham Midweek League after the latest round of matches.

Brackley beat Marsh Gibbon by 14 runs.Max Pennell topscored with 47 in Brackley’s total of 88-6. Young Tom Leonard took 2-9.

In reply Marsh were restricted to 74-7, with R.Cartwright notching 4-8.

Thornborough had a comfortable five-wicket win at Fringford.J.Stevens topscored with 46 in Fringford’s total of 107-4.In reply J.Ell, (51), guided Thornborough to their winning total of 109-5, N.Mohammed taking 3-21.

N.Archer hit 103 in Syresham’s innings of 178-5, then bowled out Gawcott for 75 to win by 103 runs A.Piggett made 26 and M.Cooper grabbed 4-12.

Westbury recorded an 83-run win over Maids Moreton. Batting first, S.Boardman hit 88 not out and T.Boardman 60 as Westbury posted 183-2. In reply Moreton finished on 100-2, G.Fraser hitting 55. Great Horwood overcame Preston Bissett by the narrow margin of eight runs. Horwood made 101-6, A.Armitage notching 36, then restricted Preston to 93-5.J.Thurston made 30 not out.

Brackley, Syresham and Thornborough all have eight points at the top of the league after two matches played, with Great Horwood, Marsh Gibbon and Westbury on four points.
