Excitement is mounting in the world of historic motor racing as the days count down to the new Goodwood 72nd Members’ Meeting in March.
Building on the success of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Revival events, the Goodwood Road Racing Club have introduced a new spring event to the racing calendar for the 2014 season titled the 72nd Members’ Meeting.
This new event will take place at the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit and competitors are being invited to take part in a series of races and demonstrations around the famous old track.
Local racer Gary Pearson has won more car races at the Goodwood Revival than any other person and will be in action in March, while James Wood will also be on-track in a Frazer Nash.
Wood said: “I am really looking forward to racing at Goodwood in March. This meeting offers another fantastic opportunity to the owners of great racing cars to see them in action at Goodwood.
“The Goodwood Motor Circuit is one of the world’s finest in terms of offering a challenge to the driver. It is a very fast track with some very daunting corners. It’s ideal for historic racing and that’s why the racing at Goodwood is always so close and exciting.”
Titled the 72nd Members’ Meeting, the event is a continuation of the BARC club meetings organised at Goodwood during the 1950s and 1960s.
Organisers of the Silverstone Classic have confirmed that the July event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary American car, the Ford Mustang.
The popular V8-powered muscle car will be the featured vehicle across the three-day event, with models on display off-track and races for race prepared versions on-track.
The Silverstone Classic will take place on July 25-27.
