Ardley United beat Oxford City Nomads 2-1 on Wednesday evening to book their place in the last eight of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.
The weather had finally relented enough to get the game on – almost two months after it’s original date – and it was Ardley who took the lead through Ryan Brooks’ 40th minute strike.
Callum Convey then added a second with a penalty on the hour-mark, which proved to be enough to seal a place in the next round, despite Louis Joyce’s late consolation.
That win stretches Ardley’s unbeaten run to more than three months – November 16 was the last time they lost a match in all competitions – and sets up a meeting away at North Leigh FC in the quarter-finals.
United will be hoping to finally return to their league campaign for the first time since January 18 this weekend, when they take on Newbury at The Playing Fields.
