Ardley slip up at Flackwell

HELLENIC FOOTBALL: Premier Division table-toppers Ardley United had mixed fortunes in the league this week, trouncing Reading Town 4-0 away last Saturday but losing narrowly 1-0 at Flackwell Heath on Tuesday.

The loss at Flackwell saw Ardley remain only three points clear at the top of the table over Kidlington, who have played a game less.

Against Reading, Danny Bone, Lewis Travers, Carl Standen netted for Ardley, plus an own goal.

Kevin Brock’s side host Wootton Bassett Town this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Division One West outfit Bicester Town’s good run came to an end with a 3-1 defeat at home to Winterbourne United last Saturday. Danny Green notched Town’s goal, but Williams, Knight and Dowdell did the damage for the visitors.

Town visit Chinnor this Saturday in the Bluefin Challenge Cup second round.

Fellow Division One West side Launton Sports were relieved to draw 1-1 at home and bag a point with Malmesbury Victoria after a run of poor results. Alex Jennings put Sports ahead, with Field levelling from the spot for Malmesbury.
