Ardley United produced a terrific all-round display to stun Hellenic Premier Division leaders Highmoor Ibis 4-0 on Tuesday.
On the back of three straight league wins, Ardley had to withstand some early Highmoor pressure before a perfectly-weighted pass from Ricky Johnson found Luke Ingram, who fired past goalkeeper Rob Tebby to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.
Mitchell Darke then spurned a golden chance for Highmoor before United doubled their lead when Johnson again provided a killer pass, this time for Joe Eyre who cut in from the right, beat a defender and slid the ball past Tebby.
Although Highmoor continued to look dangerous on the break, Ardley extended their lead to three when Ingram fired a tremendous shot past a startled Tebby.
Jon Gardner and Johnson had chances to increase the lead but they had to wait until the second half four a fourth as Johnson’s 65th minute header made the game safe.
Ardley are up to seventh ahead of this weekend’s cup tie at home to Chippenham Park.
