TWO goals in the final five minutes saw Ardley United beat Cheltenham Saracens 2-1 to progress into the second round of the FA Vase.
In a competitive first half, Cheltenham just about edged the play with Joe White making a good low save to his left to keep out a header.
But the home side opened the scoring shortly before half time when Chris Sayce broke clear and placed his shot past White.
A change of formation saw Ardley up their play in the second half as Jason Costello forced a good save out of Ryan Betteridge while Troy Bryan directed Dean Smith’s cross just wide.
The visitors had further chances to score as they wrestled control of the match before deservedly equalising five minutes from time when Joe Coleman fired Patrick Starrett’s cross past Betteridge.
Cheltenham barely had time to catch their breath when Ardley grabbed a dramatic winner two minutes later as Coleman turned provider to set up Bryan.
Ardley saw out victory comfortably to reach the second round for the first time in their history, where they have been drawn away to Sussex Counties League Division One side Horsham YMCA.
