Ardley United remain in promotion contention in the Hellenic Premier Division after a 2-0 win over Kidlington on Tuesday.
Having suffered a second league defeat of the season at Highmoor Ibis – losing 2-1 with Ryan Brooks on the score sheet for United – Ardley were keen to get back on track when Kidlington came to town.
The hosts took 15 minutes to get going but they began to assert themselves with Brooks shooting wide early on before Ollie Stanbridge headed against the post. Kindlington had their chances, too, but the sides went into half time level after a goalless first half.
The game remained end-to-end after the break, with Ardley taking a 59th minute lead through Brooks following good work from Harry Brock.
Kidlington increased the pressure on the home defence, but Ardley stayed resolute before putting the result beyond doubt when Kidlington goalkeeper Matt Hyslop was dispossessed by Jon Gardner and the substitute finished well to secure the points.
United, who are now up to second, host Wootton Bassett this Saturday.
