A dominant display from Buckingham Athletic saw them to a convincing 3-0 win over local rivals Winslow United in the Buckingham Charity Cup on Tuesday.
Facing a weakened Winslow side, Scott Latham put Athletic ahead on 10 minutes after Phil Martin had hit the bar and that lead was quickly doubled when Josh Hooper finished off more good work from Martin to put the home side in control.
Some good goalkeeping kept the score at 2-0 until the second half, but former Winslow man Martin added a third to secure their place in the next round.
Earlier in the week, Athletic’s poor run of form in the league continued with a 3-0 defeat to Welwyn Garden City in SSML Division One.
On Saturday, Athletic travel to Walton Court in the first round of the County Cup.
Meanwhile, Winslow enjoyed cup success of their own on Saturday when they stunned Leverstock Green with a entertaining 6-3 victory in the FA Vase.
Drew Mitten’s unstoppable run of goalscoring form continued with a hat-trick while Vinny Shrieves, Jakub Kaspryzk and Ryan Freshwater added further goals to send Winslow through and set-up a meeting with Tower Hamlets in the second qualifying round.
