Buckingham Athletic management team are extremely pleased with the way their pre-season is coming together.
On Saturday, both the reserves and first teams played Bugbrooke at Stratford Fields with promising performances from both sides.
The reserves kicked off the day with a convincing 3-0 win thanks to goals from Josh Hooper, Matt Cruse and Dan Booden.
Reserve team manager Mark Carter said: “It was really pleasing as we had a real good mix of experience and youth which looks promising for the coming season.
“Although it took 10 minutes or so to settle down, the lads never really looked under pressure against what looked to be a far more experience side.”
The first team were leading 3-1 but the sweltering conditions appeared to affect the home side more than the visitors and they settled for a 3-3 draw.
First team manager Damien Wiffin said afterwards: “It was great to see new signings Chris Davies and Alex Woodfine on the score sheet again as confidence is beginning to grow.”
Athletic settled well and by half time they were 2-0 up with a powerful header from Davies and Woodfine’s direct free kick – the third goal coming from a great individual Josh Hooper effort.
Athletic first team finish off pre-season with a friendly game at Thame United on Tuesday and then their final warm up game against Hale Leys at home on Saturday at 3pm.
