Athletic stop the rot

BUCKINGHAM Athletic stopped the rot of four straight league defeats after coming from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Cranfield.

Damien Wiffin’s side began the season well – sitting top of the table at one point – but have since lost their way to slide down to 13th in South Midlands Division One.

Tom Clark saved a penalty for Athletic in the 20th minute but Cranfield were given a second chance from the spot and this time they made no mistake to take a lead into the break.

However, Athletic never gave up and levelled things late on through Jonny Cater’s header with 14 minutes remaining.

Buckingham visit Hale Leys United tomorrow for the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup.
