Following two weeks without a game, Buckingham Athletic were back in league action at the weekend, suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat against 10-man Wodson Park.
Manager Damian Wiffin was without several key players for the trip to and although they began brightly, Athletic struggled to carve out many chances without leading striker Phil Martin.
It was the home side who took the lead as Frankey Tarrant brought down the Wodson striker inside the penalty area and Knightly confidently dispatched the spot-kick.
Athletic responded well and levelled through Nathan Perna, who volleyed home Dan Staley’s cross, and the visitors were then further boosted when a home player saw red for kicking Patch Hooper.
However, Buckingham failed to take advantage despite continual pressure, and it was Wodson who scored the vital third goal through Muir’s header, which proved to be the winning goal.
Wiffin will be keen to get his key players back for the visit of Kentish Town on Saturday.
