Buckingham Town have slipped to 15th in United Counties League Division One after back-to-back defeats this week.
Matt Judge’s late strike inflicted a 13th defeat of the season on the Robins on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 by Wellingborough Whitworth.
Neil Griffiths’ side went ahead on six minutes through Akin Iluyemi’s opener, but were quickly pegged by Judge, who then went into grab a late winner.
That defeat was followed by another loss on Wednesday evening when promotion-chasing Northampton Spencer eased to a 3-0 victory.
Luke Stone’s goal in the dying seconds of the first half gave the Millers an interval advantage, before Stones doubled his tally midway through the second half and James Wallington wrapped up the points ten minutes from time.
Manager Neil Griffiths said: “We are getting players back fit and probably throwing them back in earlier than we would like to. Saturday was a poor performance that lacked the desire we need and left all of us feeling low.
“However, on Wednesday night, despite the scoreline sounding convincing, I cannot fault any of the players’ commitment, we never gave up. We’ve said afterwards if we maintain that level of work ethic we will get results.”
Buckingham travel to Rushden and Higham United on Saturday before hosting Raunds Town next Wednesday.
