Brackley Town’s dismal start to the season continued with a 3-0 home defeat to Guiseley.

Saints named new loan signing Sam Smith in their side, but it was the visitors who dominated from kick-off as they twice went close in the opening minutes with Adam Boyes’ shot well saved by home goalkeeper Dean Snedker.

Jake Lawlor then put his effort wide and Wayne Brooksby brought a finger-tip save from Snedker before Boyes gave Guiseley the lead following a free-kick after 24 minutes.

Saints tested ‘keeper Steve Dickinson from Ebby Nelson-Abby’s free-kick midway through the half and threatened the visiting goal in another scramble but Guiseley fully deserved their half-time lead.

Lawlor lobbed Snedker to double the lead on the hour as Brackley struggled to gain a foothold in the game, although Smith went close from a free-kick. On 73 minutes, a fine move initiated by man of the match Brooksby presented Boyes with a golden chance but his header found only the crossbar, before substitute Oli Johnson’s run and finish from a tight angle completed the misery for Saints.

Brackley host the only side below them in the table this weekend when AFC Hyde come to town.

Brackley: Snedker, Samuels (Webb 76), McDonald, Odhiambo, Sharpe, R.Austin, Kaziboni (Green 68), Nelson-Addy, Rowe, Smith (Pearson 81), M.Austin.
