Green grabs brace as Saints whitewash Evesham United

FOOTBALL: Brackley Town made it two home wins inside a week with a 5-0 demolition of Evesham United on Tuesday following a 3-1 success over Hemel Hempstead Town last Saturday.

Saints’ improved form has seen them push upto to 11th spot in the Zamaretto Premier Division.

Against Evesham, Brackley took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of Frannie Green’s strike on 35 minutes. The second half was a different story as Brackley seized the initiative, Tom Winters stabbing home a second goal just five minutes after the re-start following determined work by Owen Story on the right. Minutes later the visitors went down to ten men following an off the ball incident.

Brackley added further goals from Carl Palmer (78 minutes), Elliot Sandy (80) and a second of the night for the outstanding Green (82) as Saints tore through a dispirited Evesham side at a canter extending the New Year winning run to five straight league games.

A tough contest at Cambridge City this Saturday, 3pm kick-off, and a further re-arranged home game against Weymouth on Monday, kick-off 7.45pm, are up next for Brackley.

WELL DONE:Tom Winters received an award for his 100th goal for Brackley from manager Jon Brady (left) and committee member Tim Carroll on Saturday.
