Neil Griffiths earned his first win as Buckingham Town manager last night when his side hammered Rothwell Corinthians 5-1.
Joel McCormick hit a hat-trick and Dom Marsala grabbed a brace to give the Robins a much-needed three points, taking them up to 17th in UCL Division One.
Griffiths said: “Wednesday night was finally the result that matched the performance.
“Scoring as early as we did after three minutes shows what this team can achieve when we have confidence. We controlled the game from the very beginning and showed the great character we have spoken about.”
The three points were particularly welcomed following Buckingham’s 3-1 home defeat to Thrapston at the weekend.
Griffiths added: “Before the game we challenged them to respond better to set backs within the game.
“On Saturday, going 1-0 down after six minutes and then conceding so quickly after levelling the game hurt us too much – you need to be mentally strong enough to deal with those key moments.
“So last night – after being safe at 2-0 and then conceding from a free kick – it was so pleasing to see us go up the other end and score within a matter of minutes.”
