Buckingham Town manager Neil Griffiths said there were plenty of positives in his side’s performance against Rushden & Diamonds on Tuesday despite losing 3-0.
Playing up against a former Football League outfit and the team second in UCL Division One, Buckingham made the worst possible start as they fell behind inside 12 seconds before going three down after 37 minutes.
But the Robins showed plenty of spirit to produce a commendable second half display. Griffiths said afterwards: “There were plenty of positives to take from last night, despite feeling a little deflated because of the result.
“I think it’s hard to ever come away from a 3-0 defeat and have an over riding emotion of achievement as we don’t like losing and that’s not what we are here to do.
“However, that said, we need to be objective and a mad three-minute spell made it a hard task to get something points-wise from the game.
“We then went on to have a prolonged spell of great attacking football where we have played some great stuff and were unfortunate not to get ourselves back into the game.
“The third goal couldn’t have been at a better time for them and it took a decent long rang strike this time to get the goal. Looking objectively at it, we’ve competed for a good spell of the game.”
