BRACKLEY Sport Ladies racked up the biggest ever victory recorded by a Sports team with Kayleigh Harwood netting a record nine goals in the 16-0 hammering of Kettering FC.
Looking lively from the start, birthday-girl Harwood was on top form as she completed her hat-trick in just 14 minutes as Brackley dominated the bottom side in Northants Women’s League Division One.
Harwood then turned provider to set up Nicole Britten before Rosie Eden added a fifth with 22 minutes on the clock.
Harwood got back into the action to add four goals to her tally while a Leanne Jones strike in between gave Sports a 10-0 lead at half time.
Brackley showed no signs of letting up in the early stages of the second half as Harwood netted her eighth of the day before Hollie Williams was put through one-on-one and slid the ball past the Kettering goalkeeper.
Jones converted a penalty minutes later while a mazy run from centre back Rachel Adams saw her bury the ball from close range to make it 14-0 with still 20 minutes remaining.
Despite the scoreline, it was not all one-way traffic as Kettering had their chances but couldn’t convert with Brackley adding two further goals – Harwood completed her treble hat-trick and Jones wrapped up a hat-trick of her own with a well-placed header.
Sports Ladies are hoping the momentum continues on Sunday, as fifth take on sixth in the league, travelling to Brunting Road to face Moulton FC, kick-off 2pm.
