Buckingham Town’s recent turnaround in form continued at the weekend when the Robins made it seven points from nine with an impressive 2-1 away win at Rothwell Corinthians.
Rothwell went into the game on the back of three straight wins but Buckingham started brightly and produced some of their best football of the season in the opening half an hour, leading to the breakthrough when Dom Lawless latched onto a Leon Chicksen through ball and drove firmly past the advancing goalkeeper.
The Robins continued to press and Lawless again had the ball in the net five minutes later, only for the goal to be controversially ruled out for offside.
Half-time did nothing to stem the onslaught and man of the moment Lawless scored again six minutes into the second half, acrobatically hooking home an Aaron Murrell flick on from a Halford corner for his fifth goal in three games.
Buckingham’s Chezney Johnson received a red card with half an hour to play but despite Ryan Goodband’s goal 16 minutes from full-time, Town saw out the remainder of the match to take all three points.
