Brackley Town boss Kevin Wilkin says it’s now or never if his side are to get out of trouble.

Two games in three days will determine whether Saints have what it takes to hang on to their Vanarama National League North status after they slipped back into the relegation zone.

Now we need the players to show some character at this stage of the season

On Saturday, Saints travel to Boston United, who still have play-off ambitions, and two days later it’s crunch time at St James Park where AFC Telford United are visitors.

The Shropshire outfit have won four games on the spin and are now four points ahead of Saints whose three-match unbeaten run came to an end at Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

Wilkin said: “We’ve got to be picking up something from every game between now and the end of the season. Now we need the players to show some character at this stage of the season.”

Wilkin knows his side need to put another run together and says they have to look to get something from every game. That’s because the two teams immediately above them, Bradford Park Avenue and Lowestoft Town have games in hand over his side.

He said: “We went on a run before, picking up seven points from nine, and we’ve got to go on another one like that.

“We had some momentum with going three games unbeaten but that all went at Stalybridge Celtic. We did well in the first half and got into some good areas but we missed good chances again.”

Junior English has been recalled by Solihull Moors but Courtney Cameron should be back after missing Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Stalybridge through injury.

Top scorer Steve Diggin is not too far away from a return and how Saints could do with their talisman but Wilkin will be hoping the goals will come before he is back.

He added: “Steve [Diggin] is out of plaster now and a couple of weeks away, we could do with him back.”
